Today's guest on The Tarot Table is associated with two reversed tarot cards. Not all tarot readers subscribe to reversals, but this guest represents both the Empress and Queen of Swords reversed.
When these cards appear in a reading, they can indicate a controlling, manipulative, or emotionally distant mother. She may use sharp words and criticism to assert dominance and lacks compassion and nurturing qualities.
This card suggests a negative or unhealthy relationship with the mother figure and represents my guest, Geraldine Crane.
Geraldine Crane is a Serene Spiritual Empowerment Guide. She works with women who have had a problematic, harmful, or toxic relationship with their mothers to realize their worth, find peace, and develop a loving relationship with themselves.
In doing so, she helps them create happier, healthier relationships in all areas of their lives. Geraldine uses Serene Spiritual Coaching and Hypnotherapy to help them reconnect with their true selves, inner divinity, inner resilience, and the love of their Spirit Guides.
More About Geraldine
Geraldine embarked on her spiritual journey two decades ago, sparked by a lifelong interest in spirituality.
However, when she wasn't in a spiritual development group at 19, she unearthed her innate ability to commune with spirit guides.
While engaged in this group, Geraldine encountered extraordinary spiritual phenomena, yet her connection deepened significantly at 39 when she pursued hypnotherapy training.
At this juncture, her professional trajectory as a probation officer, substance misuse worker, and, later, a domestic abuse recovery worker intertwined with her narrative of navigating a profoundly challenging relationship with her mother, from whom she distanced herself five years ago.
This convergence of professional expertise, personal growth, and spiritual insight led to her Serene Spiritual approach.
Through the fusion of hypnotherapy, coaching, and mentoring, Geraldine endeavors to aid women in healing their "mother wounds" by harnessing" the boundless" love of the Universe.
Her mission is to facilitate their connection with their inner divinity and spiritual guides, angels, and departed loved ones, empowering them to recognize their inherent worth and embark on a journey of self-love and acceptance.
Passionately dedicated to her work, Geraldine has amassed a wealth of extraordinary spiritual experiences along her path, which she eagerly shares with others.
Her profound commitment to guiding individuals toward healing and self-discovery underscores her unwavering devotion to the Serene Spiritual methodology. However, let's discuss the hallmarks of a toxic mother, as today's episode covers this topic.
What Are the Signs of a Toxic Mother?
The signs of a toxic mother do vary. I talk about my issues as well, though; luckily, things are better on that front as I talk about it with Geraldine in the podcast episode. I will now list the common signs of a toxic mother.
Lack of Empathy: A toxic mother may struggle to understand or show empathy towards her children's feelings and experiences. She may dismiss or minimize their emotions, making them feel invalidated or unheard.
Manipulative Behavior: Toxic mothers may use manipulation tactics to control their children. This can include guilt-tripping, emotional blackmail, or gaslighting, where they distort reality to make their children doubt their perceptions or memories.
Constant Criticism: Toxic mothers may engage in frequent criticism and put-downs, often focusing on their children's flaws or mistakes rather than offering support or encouragement. This can lead to low self-esteem and feelings of inadequacy in their children.
Emotional Instability: A toxic mother may have unpredictable mood swings or intense emotional reactions. This can create an unstable and chaotic environment, leaving children anxious and uncertain about how their mother will react.
Boundary Violations: Boundaries are essential for healthy relationships, but a toxic mother may have difficulty respecting her children's boundaries. She may intrude on their personal space, invade their privacy, or fail to respect their autonomy and individuality.
Favoritism or Scapegoating: Some toxic mothers may show favoritism towards one child while scapegoating another. This can create a dynamic where one child is consistently praised and supported while the other is constantly criticized or blamed for family issues.
Emotional or Physical Abuse: In extreme cases, a toxic mother may engage in emotional or physical abuse towards her children. This can include verbal insults, physical violence, or neglecting their basic needs.
Again, if you think you have a mother like this, she does not necessarily have to have all these signs. But a few are red flags. Geraldine can be of great help if you are struggling with its effects.
