Let’s Go Over The Tarot Cards With Similar Meanings Yet Subtle Differences
They are so similar but also so different
You will find many cards in the tarot deck with similar meanings, whether they are part of the Major Arcana or Minor Arcana.
The cards' appearances are different; they may be part of the Major or Minor Arcana, but their meanings are similar despite subtle differences.
Tarot readings and interpretations will be affected by the cards' differences.
Now let's look at a set of tarot cards that have similar meanings but differ from each other.
Death And Tower
Both Death and Tower represent life-changing and shocking transformations and endings.
Death represents emotional endings and transformations you experience, while the Tower represents abrupt ones you do not prepare for emotionally.
I'll give another example. The experience of being a first-time mother involves both.
When a woman becomes a mom for the first time, there is a great deal of emotional preparation.
A first-time mom, however, faces unprepared upheavals as, suddenly, her needs are no longer about her!
That's quite shocking. Similar yet different meanings can be found on other cards.
Devil And Eight of Swords
Entrapment is the theme of both the Devil and the Eight of Swords.
Nevertheless, if you are dealing with the Devil, your physical desires are trapping you, which can also be a sign of addiction or a need for decadence.
You can sometimes feel literally entrapped when the Eight of Swords represents your negative mind.
It depends on the reading. Here's an example.
The mother you have is addicted to food, and she cannot stop eating.
Whenever she gets hungry, she orders takeout and runs to the store for junk food.
The Devil represents her food addiction, but her belief that she cannot escape the addiction is represented by the Eight of Swords, so she keeps herself trapped even though help is available.
Taking care of her kids while having no life may also make her feel trapped.
Four of Swords And Hermit
Hermit and Four of Swords are both about seclusion, but their meanings differ. After being injured, the Four of Swords signifies resting and recovering or sleeping (which is important since you go through a "beating" every day just being alive).
The Hermit pulls back from society to gain a deeper understanding of life. A coach, a psychic, or a therapist can help.
You usually go into hermit mode when you are dealt a blow from life. A blast from life, however, requires rest and recovery to process, which is the Four of Swords.
Your next step will be to examine what happened, which the Hermit represents.
Lovers And Two of Cups
Lovers and Two of Cups can symbolize a union or marriage.
In the Lovers card, you see the spiritual connection and commitment that come with making a choice, while in the Two of Cups, you see the emotional connection between two people.
According to the Two of Cups, a marriage happens because two people are in love with each other.
The Lovers is about making a spiritual commitment after choosing to be together, not emotional attachment.
Ten of Cups And Ten of Pentacles
It is common for people to get confused with these cards. In the Ten of Cups, we find an emotional connection with a family member (or friends we consider family since family is not always blood-related).
Wealth and material abundance are the focus of the Ten of Pentacles. It represents inheritances, so there is no emotional connection to the Ten of Pentacles.
However, the Ten of Cups symbolizes a supportive family without material wealth.
Four of Wands And Three of Cups
It may seem like the Four of Wands, and Three of Cups are interchangeable since both represent good times with friends.
There is, however, a difference between a passionate celebration or gathering with friends and an emotional gathering with the Three of Cups.
As an example, you might throw a party to celebrate a milestone because passion would motivate you to do so.
Three of Cups, on the other hand, represents emotional connections with friends, such as enjoying their company while having dinner or having a get-together.
Ace of Pentacles And Six of Pentacles
Getting money can be represented by the Ace of Pentacles and the Six of Pentacles.
An Ace of Pentacles, on the other hand, represents a small amount of money that is coming to you as a bonus or a result of your hard work.
If you get the Six of Pentacles, it may represent money you received as a gift, donation, lottery prize, money you owed someone, or money you were owed.
If you successfully raise money for a GoFundMe cause, then the Six of Pentacles represents that. The Ace of Pentacles signifies a work bonus.
Justice And Two of Swords
The Justice card and the Two of Swords card represent decisions. The concept of justice refers to making a conscious decision while also analyzing cause and effect.
That explains the Justice card and decision-making. In the Two of Swords, the decision is more subconscious, as yes, you must weigh the pros and cons, but there is also an intuitive aspect.
Six of Swords And Eight of Cups
The Six of Swords and Eight of Cups represent removing yourself from a stressful, triggering, or harmful situation to get a fresh start.
In contrast, the Six of Swords refers to moving forward with emotional baggage and grief, while the Eight of Cups can sometimes refer to escaping something that stresses you out.
For example, both cards represent a move to a new home.
The Eight of Cups means you are moving because your neighborhood is becoming a jungle, crime rates are rising, or others are gossiping about you because of some misunderstanding, and they are cruel.
A residential move with the Six of Swords is due to the loss of a loved one who lived with you or in your neighborhood, and the grief is too great for you to stay put. The grief and emotional baggage follow you even after you make the physical move.
