I attend an online tarot meeting every Tuesday night, and one of the recent discussions was about the Sun tarot card.
The exercise for the group was to talk about our shadow tarot cards, the card at the bottom of the deck. One individual said theirs was the Sun.
How could the most positive tarot card have any negative connotations?
Well, the thing is, it can, and it is not hard to believe. The Sun does not have to be in the reversed position either.
The Position Of The Sun Tarot Card Does Matter
Again, one of the most common negative aspects of the Sun tarot card is not always in the reversed position.
If the Sun comes up as the reason for the culprit of a problem in a tarot spread, then it can mean various things.
One of the most common dark sides of the Sun is toxic positivity and magical thinking.
As you know, positivity is associated with the Sun, but how do you know it is genuine?
Toxic positivity, which I have talked about for a long time, is false positivity. It is when you struggle with a problem, and someone throws positivity at you to invalidate your struggles.
Common toxic positive phrases are:
Good vibes only, don’t bring anyone down with negativity.
Count your blessings as others have it worse than you.
If you think positively, you will not let it get to you so much.
Things happen for a reason.
Happiness is a choice.
Failure is not an option.
You get the idea! So, the Sun can most definitely represent toxic positivity. It can also represent magical thinking or being overly optimistic.
There are other issues that are problematic regarding the Sun tarot card, and I have covered them in my Medium article, Do You Think The Sun Is The Most Positive Tarot Card? Think Again.
Let me know what you think about it when you have a chance!
